LightWerks Integrates Video Conferencing Technology at Non-Profit Senior Center

Founded in 1975, Laguna Beach Seniors was one of the first nonprofits in Orange County to serve older adults. Since 2009, their home has been the Susi Q, a warm and welcoming center where the lives of seniors are enhanced through programs, services, and advocacy that promote independence, wellness, and community. LightWerks partnered with the Susi Q to add state-of-the-art technology to their Laguna Beach headquarters. The communication solutions will serve to add value to the essential resources provided by this incredible organization, allowing senior citizens who are homebound to participate in the center’s classes and activities remotely through high quality live streamed and recorded events.

The Center uses its spaces for many purposes, including workout experiences, music classes, therapy, art, and many other social events. The hybrid communication technologies allow patrons of the center to join these classes in-person or via Zoom. LightWerks designed a Crestron NVX system that connects 4 of the senior center’s main rooms. This allows the content (video and audio) from the center’s main space, the Great Room, to be shared in the 3 other rooms and serve as overflow when necessary. The rooms are easily operated using a customized Creston control interface. All spaces have full video conferencing functionality and support BYOD, making it simple for guest presenters to share their content to participants near and far.

In order to support consistency and ease of use, LightWerks created a uniform technology solution throughout all rooms at the senior center. Technologies include dual 86” LG displays, Shure MXA910 ceiling mounted microphones, as well as hand-held and lavalier microphones by Shure, Crestron Saros speakers, Aver TR311 PTZ cameras, and Crestron touch control panels. The center’s Great Room houses the main rack that controls all 4 rooms.
