LightWerks Partners with Stanford University to Build First Distance Learning Classrooms on Campus

Leading research and teaching institution, Stanford University, aspired to reimagine classrooms through the integration of state-of-the-art distance learning spaces.  In  partnership with LightWerks Communication Systems, the university began its standardization with a proof-of-concept room in the Lathrop Building.  The new presentation technology features intuitive touchscreen interfaces, improved sound and lighting, and a space-saving profile for equipment stacks.

The Stanford distance learning classroom design is based around the QSC Q-SYS platform, which includes IP cameras focusing on both the lecturer and students, speakers, and a simple to operate touch panel. Sennheiser intelligent ceiling microphones are used to pick up all classroom audio. A Heckler wall mounted rack makes it easy for instructors to connect their individual devices to the IP cameras and intelligent ceiling microphones via HDMI and USB-C connections.  Additionally, LightWerks ensured that Mac OS users also have the option for wireless presentation via Apple TV.
