LightWerks at InfoComm 2024: Highlights and Innovations
Last week, the LightWerks team attended InfoComm 2024 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, and we are thrilled to share our collective insights and observations from the event. InfoComm is always a great opportunity to see the latest advancements in AV technology, and this year did not disappoint. With a record-breaking 30,271 attendees from 125 countries and 833 exhibitors, this year’s InfoComm set a high bar for innovation and industry engagement.
Here’s a summary of the most exciting trends and products that caught our attention:
Cutting-Edge Cameras
Sony’s new AI-powered tracking cameras are revolutionizing how we think about video capture. Their smooth and intelligent tracking capabilities outperformed other brands in side-by-side comparisons. Shure also impressed with their MXA920 Intellimix, which now offers even better noise cancellation and directional audio cues for Teams meetings, enhancing the virtual meeting experience.
Sports Bars and Video Distribution
The sheer amount of video distribution technology showcased had us questioning why we aren’t seeing more AV-centric sports bars. With advancements in video quality and distribution, creating an immersive sports viewing experience is more achievable than ever.
21:9 Aspect Ratio Displays
The trend towards 21:9 aspect ratio displays is strong, with several exhibitors showcasing impressive solutions. LG’s 146-inch DVLED display was particularly noteworthy. It promises quick installation and comes ready to go, all for an MSRP of $40k. This could be a game-changer for large-scale display needs. Legrand Middle Atlantic also had fantastic supporting and mounting solutions tailored for 21:9 displays.
Retail: Interactive Transparent OLED Displays
One of the standout innovations was the Interactive Transparent OLED Displays. These displays were a show-stopper with their futuristic look and versatile applications. Imagine these in retail spaces, bars, or coffee shops—truly endless possibilities. LG’s transparent OLED displays are a must-see for anyone looking to innovate their visual displays.
Logitech and Qsys
While Logitech had some minor updates, the standout was their new Sight product, which significantly outperforms other similar devices like Meeting Owls. Qsys blew us away with their booth tour, showcasing advanced lighting control, scene changes synchronized with camera shifts, and top-tier AI production value. This could add a new level of engagement to our meeting room solutions.
AV Furniture
Furniture is an area where we see great potential for growth. Legrand’s Middle Atlantic series stole the show with their Salamander-like furniture and Chief on-wall racks. These pieces are not only aesthetically pleasing but also designed for easy installation and maintenance. Integrating AV-oriented furniture into our projects can significantly enhance functionality and client satisfaction.
Wall Mounting Innovations
Chief introduced a new mount for 49-inch and larger displays that spans over three studs, eliminating the need for backing. This mount is telescoping, making it easier to service, and includes various accessories for mounting equipment and power management behind the display.
Cable Raceway Solutions
Legrand has streamlined the process for ordering Connectrac, making it more affordable and eliminating third-party distributors. Their online configuration program simplifies the ordering process, providing an easy-to-use solution for cable management.
E-Sports: A Growing Market
E-sports continues to be a booming market, with everyone showcasing DVLED walls and the latest arena setups. With prices dropping and increasing interest from educational institutions, this is a segment we should definitely explore further.
Nureva and Inogeni Innovations
Nureva’s latest offerings cover more space than anticipated and now include voice uplift capabilities. Inogeni is pushing boundaries with USB 3.0 extensions and has become the go-to for integrating whiteboard cameras without needing a full Logitech system.
Digital Signage and Sound Treatment
Digital signage is a significant growth area for LightWerks. With various digital content companies on board, we can unlock new opportunities in content creation and management. Additionally, sound treatment is another essential aspect we need to incorporate more frequently into our projects. Companies like Snowsound offer innovative solutions that are easy to install and highly effective.
Industry Trends and Innovations
InfoComm 2024 also highlighted key industry trends such as the integration of AI in Pro AV, the significant growth of e-sports, the convergence of broadcast and AV technologies, and impressive projection mapping displays. The Vegas Sphere was a standout attraction, demonstrating advanced AV technologies through an immersive experience.
Conclusion
InfoComm 2024 at the Las Vegas Convention Center was a treasure trove of innovation and inspiration. The AV industry is not slowing down, and we are excited about the new possibilities these technologies bring. From interactive displays to advanced camera systems and e-sports arenas, there are endless opportunities to enhance our offerings and better serve our clients.
We look forward to integrating these insights and technologies into our projects, ensuring we remain at the forefront of the AV industry.
